B-Real Wins MMJ Dispensary Lotto

Dr. Greenthumb, also known as rap artist B-Real, won Santa Ana's medical marijuana lottery earlier this month.  Orange County, California will soon be home to one of its first medical marijuana dispensaries.

The longtime cannabis activist of legendary rap group, Cypress Hill, was among 20 winners in the Santa Ana lottery.  Now, the winners have to clear 60 days of "regulatory safety permit phase," in which Santa Ana's City Council will perform background checks on each winner.  B-Real and the other winners beat out 630 competitors.  Each winner must pay an additional $12,086 to move forward in the process.  (Shouldn't be too hard for the rap legend)

B-Real plans to name his dispensary Dr. Greenthumb, of course.  “We want to show ... if done correctly and legally, all the good things that it can bring to the actual city – jobs, revenue stream, more opportunity and quality of medicine,” he told OC Weekly.
