'Shahs of Sunset' Star Admits To Former Marijuana Addiction
Reality TV star Golnesa "GG" Gharachedaghi remains in the media after her recently confession to a troubled childhood, having experienced suicidal thoughts and drug addiction. The recent season of Bravo's hit show, Shahs of Sunset, has come to an end but GG sat down with the Inquisitir, where she admitted that her drug use began at a young age and led her to a "dark place."
GG admitted to suffering from Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA), which she thinks is what caused her to become an excessive drinker, cocaine and marijuana user. However, she strongly feels that dealing with her RA has made it even more difficult for her to cope with her prior drug addiction. "I was an addict. I have 11 years drug free. I started using drugs when I was 11 and a half, and it kind of progressed very, very fast and I was a full blown addict [before I knew it,]" she said.
While GG claims to have her cocaine and marijuana addiction under control, she recognized that she was resembling old habits when she began drinking more heavily last year. She remembered, "I was literally sitting on the ground in my living room, one empty bottle of Titos vodka here, a bottle of wine here, and some gin. And on the other side, I had knives. It just came down to - you fight or flight in this moment. 'What do I do in this moment?' And I downed the rest of that wine and picked up the phone. I called my friend and said, 'I need you now.'"
Gharachedaghi told Entertainment Tonight that after her diagnosis of RA, she was able to hide her depression and addiction for years however, things came to light while she was shooting the last season of Shahs. She hopes that one day, she will be able to discuss her past addiction but for now it is too painful.
