Ted Cruz On Colorado Cannabis

Republican presidential candidate, Ted Cruz, explained his support for marijuana legalization during interviews in Colorado last weekend.  He feels that his political views are in line with Coloradans decision to legalize although he does have a personal opposition to the drug itself.

In an interview with ABC-7 Denver's Marshall Zelinger, Cruz stated, "If the state of Texas had a referendum on it, I would vote no.  But I think it is the prerogative of the states to make that determination."  He continued to say, "I think the people of Colorado have the right to make the decision that they've made under the Constitution, and as President, I would respect that."

During and interview with the Denver Post, he reiterated his beliefs on Constitutional rights and his stance on involving himself as President.  "The people of Colorado have made a different decision.  I respect that decision.  And actually, it is an opportunity for the rest of the country to see what happens here in Colorado," he said.

Cruz's views on marijuana are similar to his opposers, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.  His only Democratic opponent, Bernie Sanders, is the only candidate to fully support cannabis legalization.
