4,000 Lbs. Of Marijuana Found In Fake Key Limes

Border agents in Texas discovered nearly 4,000 pounds of marijuana hidden inside a shipment of fake key limes near the U.S.-Mexico border. A commercial shipment on January 30 attempted to pass through the Pharr International Bridge in Brownsville, Texas according to the Dallas Morning News.

Officials used drug-sniffing dogs and imaging scanners to search the tractor trailer vehicle.  Upon their search, 34,764 packages containing 3,947.37 pounds of marijuana were found.  The estimated street value is nearly $800,000.

The bust was made a few weeks after another large amount of cannabis was found being transported inside of another vehicle.  “This is an outstanding interception of narcotics," said Port Director Efrain Solis Jr.  "Our CBP officers continue to excel in their knowledge of smuggling techniques which allows them to intercept these kinds of attempts to introduce narcotics into our country.”
