Arrested & Left To Die Over Marijuana

In April 2012, Daniel Chong was arrested during a raid under the suspicion of being apart of a drug ring.  Although authorities cleared him of any charges, he was still arrested and placed in a holding cell.

FIVE DAYS LATER Chong was finally discovered to be seriously seriously ill and in critical condition.  It has been said that at least four of the DEA employees on duty witnessed or heard Chong crying for help in his cell.  Chong, who is now 26 years old, admitted that he survived by drinking his own urine!  “I had to do what I had to do to survive,” he told reporters. “It’s so inconceivable. You keep doubting they would forget you."  When police finally responded, Chong was suffering from kidney failure because he had gone without food or water for so long.

Chong settled with $4.1 million from the federal government as restitution for his near death experience.  Along with the settlement, the DEA will be implementing new policies in regards to dealing with detainees.
