Cincinnati Erasing Possession Charges
A new law went into effect last week in Cincinnati that will benefit not only those in possession of more than 100 grams of marijuana in the future but also those who have already been convicted of a similar charge. Now, instead of 30 days in jail and a $250 fine, those caught with over 100 grams of cannabis will only receive $150 in court fees.
The law change means people who were previously caught with weed under the old ordinance can have those charges dropped from their record. This does not exclude if there are multiple possession charges on a person's record, as long as it was 100 grams or less. All possession charges that fall within the 100 gram limit are able to be removed from your record.
For more information, the Hamilton County Public Defender's Office is offering free seminars called the "Fresh Start Expungement Clinic." Head over to their site or attend a seminar to make sure you understand the law.
