HighTimes To Host First Recreational Cannabis Cup
HighTimes, the country's most well known cannabis publication, hosts a number of cannabis events every year in states where marijuana is legal. The Cannabis Cup is not only a huge event that entices people to travel but it is one of the events that all herbalists must attend at least once.
The cannabis company has held many successful events in the past in major cities like Denver, Los Angeles and even in Jamaica. However, all of these events have been operated under the stipulation that only those who were medical patients would be allowed to purchase and consume cannabis at the event.
The upcoming Cannabis Cup being held this weekend in Sacramento, California will be like no other. HighTimes has officially received government approval to hold the nation’s first legal, licensed cannabis consumption event in the country.
“It has always been important to us that our events comply with all local laws while providing the best possible experience for our many thousands of attendees," says Adam Levin, CEO of High Times. "With this week’s state and city approvals, we’re thrilled to announce a history-making event on the road to complete legalization. This has been a long process but we’re proud to say that we’re finally licensed and 100 percent legal.”
In Sacramento, we’re early adopters of cannabis policy and we set a very high standard," Joe Devlin, Chief of Cannabis Policy and Enforcement for the City of Sacramento, stated. "Hosting this Cup is another step in the right direction and shows other cities across the state, and the nation, how events with responsible consumption can be done.”
The Central Valley Cannabis Cup is THIS WEEKEND, May 4-5, at the Cal Expo fairgrounds in Sacramento. HighTimes is expected to generate more than $200,000 in local tax revenue according to Devlin.
