Idaho Pushing For Legalization In 2016
The Gem State, which has some of the strictest marijuana laws in the country, is now discussing the possibility of pushing for legalization in the 2016 ballot. The group New Approach Idaho plans on developing an initiative to legalize marijuana in 2016.
Previously, Idaho state legislature has formally denied a marijuana measure in 2013. Serra Frank, founding director at New Approach Idaho, joined Compassionate Idaho in efforts in 2012 and 2014 to put marijuana initiatives on the ballot but unfortunately failed to receive enough signatures to be considered.
Although legalization seems to be opposed in Idaho, a a Boise State University poll from 2010 showed 74% of Idaho residents supporting marijuana for “terminally or seriously ill patients.” Those who are in support of medical marijuana should also support the initiative to legalize it. Fingers crossed, Idaho.
