Indiana To Legalize?

Did you know that if you're caught smoking marijuana in Indiana you can end up with up to a $5,000 fine?  Senator Karen Tallian and House member Sue Errington submitted two separate bills earlier this week to hopefully fix and change the Hoosier State's views and laws regarding marijuana.

Tallian's bill would create the Department of Marijuana Enforcement, or DOME, which would oversee a program for those who use marijuana for treatment.  Although the bill has room for error, it has been adjusted since her last attempt to decriminalize cannabis.  Errignton's bill, however, will allow people with medical conditions such as cancer, glaucoma, AIDS, hepatitis C, Crohn's disease, Alzheimer's disease, and others could use cannabis for treatment.

The odds of the bill's being passed are very slim, being that the Indiana legislature is controlled by Republicans that would rather be the country's last state to accept cannabis reform.  The state legalized the production of industrial hemp last year but with the state's large farming population, American's are wondering when Indiana will wake up (and bake up!)
