Islamic Group ISIS Burns Marijuana Fields In Syria
The Islamic State group, ISIS, who has recently been in the news for capturing and murdering an American journalist, has recently released a video of the terrorists chopping down and burning marijuana plants. The farmers in the town of Akhtarin have resorted to growing marijuana as a source of income during the Syrian civil war. ISIS, rivals of the Syrian military, released amateur video of the group burning plants that they claim to be cannabis.
The farmers have been under threat by groups like ISIS because they consider drugs against Islamic law. ISIS has banned the use of cigarettes, drugs and alcohol and has used violent tactics to take control of Syria and Iraq.
Since the release of this video, the United Nations stated that the “systematic attack on the civilian population” may be defined as “crimes against humanity.”
