Maine Votes Yes On Question 1

Yet another state has voted to legalize recreational cannabis after a very close call of votes on Question 1.

The measure allows adults that are 21 and over to possess and use marijuana. The language of the bill was once viewed as "troublesome" by Attorney General Janet Mills. The ballot, however, passed with 50.3% of residents voting yes, while just 49.7% voted no.

Question 1 will place a 10% on cannabis retail sales and revenue will be deposited into the General Fund. There will be fees for licensing cultivation, product manufacturing, testing facilities and retail locations.
