Man Fires Gun In Protection Of Marijuana Grow

Don't even think about attempting to steal from Pedro Orta-Zuniga's garden!  The 24 year old Pasco, Washington resident admitted to firing a gun in order to scare off a teenager trying to steal his plants from over a fence.

The young adult was in federal court on Friday where he pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.  The crime, which took place on October 1, 2015, led to a 16 year old boy having to be treated at a local hospital for gun shot wounds.  The teen confessed to the officers that he and a friend saw Orta-Zuniga's plants and intended on stealing them when a man on the other side of the fence began shooting.

Upon investigation at Orta-Zuniga's home, officers found Pedro hiding amongst his growing area where they also say bullet holes in the fence, a rifle and a pistol.  Orta-Zuniga admitted to sleeping in the yard with his guns in order to protect his garden from thieves.  He faces up to five years in prison.
