Minneapolis Banning Indoor Vaping

It looks as if by the end of 2014, you will not be able to smoke from a vape pen in a public building in Minneapolis.  Last Monday, a City Council committee unanimously passed a measure that would extend the state's 2007 Freedom to Breathe Act to vape pens.  The new law will treat vape pen smoke like cigarette smoke.

Vape pen supporters do not agree with classifying vape smoke with tobacco smoke.  The smoke that is given off of a vape pen has not been  scientifically proven to be harmful.  However, City Council Member Cam Gordon, said he would put in a provision to allow vaping to continue at e-cigarette shops, but otherwise the measure passed without much debate.

The City Council with vote on December 5th.
