PR Parties On 4/20 Despite Blackouts

The island of Puerto Rico experienced black outs that left a million people without power just days prior to 4/20. After just recently being devastated by Hurricane Maria, most would expect the marijuana holiday to be furthest from Puerto Rican's minds however, the Puerto Rico MedCann.Biz event celebrated the holiday with its annual event.

The third annual event at Vivo Beach Club in Carolina focused on the first generation of patients where educational lectures, patient testimonials and free medical card certification was free of charge for the first thousand registered patients. The FreeJuana Foundation took it’s 6th annual march to the Capitol in San Juan on 4/20, honoring former governor, Alejandro García Padilla, who signed an executive order for the development of regulations for the cannabis industry in Puerto Rico in 2015.

The Moña Fest on Saturday, April 21 at Calle Calma in Santurce. The event included job fairs for anyone interested in working in the cannabis industry, as well as exhibits, food stations and live music.

Puerto Rico now has 25,000 registered patients in the medical cannabis program according to the Department of Health.
