Seattle Cop Responsible For Majority Of Marijuana Citations
A recent report from the Seattle Police Department reveals that a single officer was responsible for 80% of the cities marijuana arrests. Not only did he conduct the arrests, he took great pleasure in doing so. Chief of Police Kathleen O’Toole stated, "the officer indicated he flipped a coin when contemplating which subject to cite," in one situation. In another circumstance, the officer had said the states marijuana laws were "silly."
Another shocker: the officer is racist. 36% of the citations were given to African Americans, which make up 8% of the cities demographic. While it seems as though most Americans are for the legalization of marijuana, there are still citizens, and unfortunately authority figures, who feel that marijuana should still be illegal. As for the Seattle Police Department, they were wise in not revealing the officer responsible for these outrageous citations.
