(Aug 2015) @SheSmokesJoints, & She Grows Too!

It's one thing to be a female herbalist, it's another to be a female who actually grows the weed she smokes.  @SheSmokesJoints is a gorgeous, well-known member of the cannabis community who not only accentuates her beauty in her smoking vids on Instagram and YouTube, she also adds to her repertoire by providing top shelf meds to medical marijuana patients in need.  She is humble in her ways, in no way competing to be the best grower out there, however @SheSmokesJoints is a well respected cannabis grower on the west coast.

Courtney, also known as @SheSmokesJoints, is from Oregon but now resides in Washington with her boyfriend and our March Honored Herbalist, @Tony.greenhand.  She first heard of cannabis in 4th grade when she was told about drugs in school by her teacher and she, like any other child, agreed to say no to drugs.  It wasn't until she was 13 that two girls came into the school bathroom and told her they were going to get her high.  "First thing I smoked out of was one of those old metal cigarette looking one hitters," she said.  "I used to hate joints, I thought they tasted terrible, were wasteful and plus I couldn't roll them so they were difficult."

So how did Courtney get the name 'SheSmokesJoints'?  While hitchhiking through Europe, she began to really enjoy joints and the process of rolling them.  She started her Instagram feed three years ago, not thinking that anyone would care about her consistent smoking.  "I simply enjoy taking pictures and hated that they always just ended up buried on my hard drive," she claims.  "A friend of mine with whom I would always sesh, began using the name 'shesmokesbong' and set me up with the name shesmokesjoints, which fit both of us perfectly."

@SheSmokesJoints has gained social media fame as an herbalist and respected cannabis grower.  She now has gardens in a few places after growing for close to eight years.  "I was always fascinated by growing, ever since I first started smoking consistently," she told us.  For Courtney, it was difficult to meet growers being raised in Oregon.  At 16, she saw her first garden and at the age of 18, she attempted to grow her first plant.  "Turned out terrible but I was proud of her still," she admitted.  "I was given a clone that was mite ridden beyond all belief, literally webs encasing the entire plant.  So I vacuumed it off best I could, and created a sauna for the plant for a day.  Then I put it outside in the sun with all the outdoor predators and saved the plant."  The mites infested her house for a year and the buds were so terrible she turned them into RSO but her first bad experience did not deter her from ever growing again.

Currently, @SheSmokesJoints grows different strains for breeding purposes.  She provides four strains, Durban Poison, Lezberado, Afgoo and San Fernando Valley OG (SFV OG), to a grower in Oregon.  Each of these strains are provided to patients who each have their preference but all in all, enjoy each of Courtney's buds.  @SheSmokesJoints has developed the reputation as a successful connect for cannabis patients to caregivers who enjoys growing to provide for the cannabis community.  One of the craziest named strains that she can recall growing is Green Crack, which may not be so strange now but back in the day was a rare breed.  Now, she says, "I really enjoy growing the strains Tony has bred because there's always something completely different that I haven't seen before."

Courtney is a sweet and humble young lady who puts love into growing, truly exemplifying her passion for cannabis.  Over the years, she has become an exceptional grower yet, she does not consider herself to be the best.  She has not entered any of her strains in any cannabis competitions.  "I wouldn't want to enter something unless I felt it was going to win. Although others may enjoy the flowers I have or have had, I don't feel they're award worthy," she told us.  She claims there are better growers out there than herself as well as people who are more knowledgable.  "I've simply done my best to read from and listen to as many growers as I possibly could," she says.  "Any tips people give me I write down so they if in fact they are needed, I have them verbatim. Reading other grower's journals are a great way to better understand intricacies of growing."

Though she is modest with her growing skills and knowledge, she still advises that growers keep themselves and their area clean as well as allowing natural predators, like spiders and lady bugs, live in their garden.  For Courtney, growing both indoors or outdoors has their perks.  "Indoors you get to play God; create your own environment from scratch.  Outdoors you get to test your skill against the elements."  The best advice she had to give was this: "Be patient, it might look done, but give it another week."

@SheSmokesJoints has taken her passion for cannabis and turned it into her career.  After years of growing and smoking, she has found comfort in spending her days tending to her gardens, dabbing and rolling up immaculate joints packed with top shelf meds.  Her warm and inviting personality only adds to her ever-evolving skills as a cannabis grower.  A pleasure to sesh with as well as a remarkable ganjapreneur, Courtney has the potential to become an exceptional caregiver or professional grower.  As the girlfriend of our March Honored Herbalist, we're certain that the two of them will surely come up with amazing endeavors together.  As for now, Courtney admits she will continue to grow and harvest the best buds that she can grow.
