How Did I Get So High?

The L was passed to me - and as much as I didn't want to get that high, it happened.  I copped out a few times, tried to say "I'm good," but peer pressure kept me hitting it until my fingers burned.  So high, I felt like I was never coming down.  I laid down and all of a sudden, the bed started rocking.  The ocean waved up and down, up and down - my body felt the rhythm.  I had never been seasick before - why all of a sudden?  The lights were flashing so bright  I could see them clearly through my closed eyelids.  Temperature began to rise as I felt a rush of heat travel from the top of my head down to the tip of my toes.  In this moment, I decided 'I will never get this high ever again.'  Sleep would be nice - noooo, I can't go to sleep.  What if I don't wake up?  What if this is the last time I ever smoke?  Why is this happening?

.. up. Up!      …WAKE UP!

My eyes widened, shocked I was still conscious.   Slowly coming back to reality, I placed my feet on the soft carpet and rose from the bed, a little light headed.  Gained my composure, left the house, and headed home.
